I'm home..

I've been home for a week, but between birthday and nasty cold inherited from someone on the trip, I've been in communicado this week. But I saw Salamet saw me over the weekend, and that was blissful fun. I loved Rome, it was wonderful, but I wanted to be home and was glad to have Patric, Randy, and Megan to come home to...oh and barbecue.

Yes I've read Harry Potter. Yes I've squeed much. Yum, it was fun. And I saw the movie while in Italy. That was fun as well.

Rome...I will have much more to say on that, I will post my journal on here in a post when it's all done. I will also have pictures soon when I get them off the camera.

Best part, Florence. Worst part, the sunburns I incurred.

Thirtieth birthday....that was wonderful. No one made me cry this year, that was a plus, and I got two trips to the Hollywood Bowl out of it. THe one blot was that I didn't get a message from my father, because of issues with my step-sister and her baby. Not so good there, the baby was born with fluid on the brain. She seems to be doing better now, but we won't know for a bit what sort of damage was done, and what that means for Erin.

But I'm 30....yikes. Thanks to everyone who wished me happy birthday. And btw, Reece and Jenn, you have stupid tourist presents waiting for you at my house that will get to you when next I'm down.

Lots and lots of changes going on and I can't wrap my brain around them just yet. One thing that hasn't changed....the location of my work. I laughed at that. I'm still in Eagle Rock for the moment. Yikes, I don't know if we are ever going to move.

BTW: It's very weird to come home from Rome where you had been contemplating finding the person who did your first tattoo to get a new one, (I found my Michael at the top of Castel San Angelo), and then you see her on a billboard on Hollywood Blvd. Apparantly Kat, who did my ankle tattoo, (and I found through Brimstone, Patric's old roomie), went to Miami for a while and was on Miami Ink on TLC for a while, and now has her own show, LA Ink. I hadn't watched the former obviously, else I would have noticed. I am glad for her, she does awesome work, if you hadn't noticed my own tat. Joe's tattoo was the best, the one of his angel wings was enough to make you cry. Well me at least, I love angels. But I suppose this means that I shall have to find another tat artist if I want my Michael, since Kat is now famous. Le sigh.

I've been resting mostly since I got home. Patric got me Star Wars for the Xbox for my birthday and I played lots of that last week. And then since coming home, to my blessed bed, I've slept, unpacked, straightened my room, and lots of baby shows. Actually I'm sick of the baby shows to be honest, but they are awfully cute. I got to watch several midwifery shows, so I got to know a bit more about what Meghan does, which was nice. Yay!

However, I've decided that epidurals are good things. God, I wish they would stop showing alien shows on the History Channel, this is to sugary cute.

OK, so I think I'm off to update "Time4Reading". I think I've caught up on the last two weeks of LJ at least. And then I will contemplate what to make for dinner. God, I'm so glad to be back home in America where I can make food for myself.

I'm running, I'm running, I'm running....

My weekend was so quiet...where did it go!

Friday was spent vegetating, as I nodded off on the couch quite early, having gotten up at 4AM to finish writing a paper. This meant Saturday was devoted to bad breakfast at Leroy's, (tater tots), wanton shopping at the mall, picking up my bike from REI, (hooray), and talking to Ty who called, so we could bitch on how Jay is a raging, anti-family dork. Then it was to be a quiet night of playing Lego Star Wars on my new DS Lite, (a grad present), and then I had to run to West LA, to give Mr. Thomas things for his trip, and then to return home. Sunday I was defiant! I stayed at home and did what I wanted. I slept in, I studied for my LA history exam, I had sushi, I rode my bike for a couple of hours. I also watched Star Wars geekery on the History Channel, and played with the DS even more. I'm starting to really get annoyed with the Lego Threepio.

Mr. Thomas is gone this week, off to New York of COMPANY stuff....and getting a nice $600 a night room out of it. Must be nice working for Satan's lawyers! LOL No, really, he just does tech, but he's off doing that, and that means all is quiet, if a bit not-as-amusing this week. Randy has been eaten by strange Italian resturants, so he doesn't amuse me as much. But hopefully he will be over tonight to bug.

School is winding down, thank God. I'm in the home stretch. I have the workings of my LA History paper in my head. I don't expect more than a B on it, because the criteria for an A is so ridiculous in my mind. I'm just going to write the best paper I can, and hope I pull the B I want. I got my much desired A on my Roman history Paper, allaying my fears on my grade. I won't hear on my other papers for a bit yet, perhaps tomorrow for Sumerian, and the Greek won't be till the final next Monday. Sort of sucky way to do it, but there you go. Anyway, I start the LA history paper tonight, the Roman history Paper later in the week, I'm working on Greek study sheet along the way, and then I'll do Sumerian as I can. Keep my head down, my eyes sharp, and I'll get through this.

I still need to buy books for Rome though...aurgh. I better order those soon.

Speaking of books...my room is still scary. I'm dedicating Friday to cleaning it, so my parents can sleep there. I find it sucky I am relelgated to the couch for a week, especially because I LOVE my bed, but there you go. I better be getting something out of this, I paid for the ticket, I'm giving up my bed, but ehh...what can you do. They can't afford a hotel for a week, and thus there you go.

I sure wish though Linda would get that stuff out of the corner from behind the door. *sigh* Wishful thinking I suppose.

Still no shower by the way...it's now been over a week. We finally got the pipes working but now no tile so the fixtures can be finished. Fucknuts, this place is run by monkeys. I want a shower in MY bathroom, with my showerhead which blows the neighbors showerhead out of the water.

*sigh* Good thing the neighboring apartment is empty, I'd hate to explain to them why I'm using their bath.

Off to tackle this mountain of work that got handed to me.
Christmas tree

Home again, home again...

My tree is still up, and still pretty. But it's coming down this week.

I had Christmas with Linda, I scored X-files and a Chief's blankie. I'm happy.

I'm feeling icky. This is mostly allergies.

School starts tomorrow. I need to download my class schedule.

EDD is fucking stupid. I have to go in and fix my unemployment benefits.

I have to call tomorrow and set up interviews.

Today I have to go and buy groceries.

I've made lists of things I need to get done.

Cleaning my room is one of those things.

Just feel icky today.
