A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." - Winston Churchill

I just saw an amazing HBO movie on Churchill, so he's a tad top of mind for me.

Sorry about the long silence on my regular journal, all. To say that Koine Greek has eaten my life is a tad of an understatement. I'm so sick of the subject I could cry, having taken a years worth of the language in 10 weeks. Perhaps not my most brilliant move, but I'm doing OK and I'm nearly done with it, and after that, unless Fuller offers an intermediate course I don't have to look at the stuff till I'm getting ready for my PhD program. Thank goodness for small miracles.

Today's topic, as I've picked off my handy list, is a quote from Churchill. I can't say I know the fellow, but it does make me think of the topic upmost in my mind at the moment-figure skating. Yes, I said figure skating. What some of you folk may or may not know is that I was and am an avid fan of the sport. Can't stand on skates to save my life, and ice and I have a long and combative relationship on the whole, but I fell in love with the sport during the 1988 Winter Games when I saw Brian Boitano skate for a gold medal. I thought it was crazy the things people could do with a pair of blades strapped to their feet.
